The Times They Are A Changin

Worship Service Coordinator: Sue Ann Lang

Joseph and John DeMasi – the DeMasi Brothers – are award-winning UU
singer/songwriters who began their singing career in the folk clubs of New York City where they were born and raised. They were heavily involved in the folk music revival scene in Greenwich Village in the 1980’s and appeared regularly at the famed “Speakeasy” folk club. In 1992 they joined forces with their lifelong friend Chris Burke, the actor with Down Syndrome best known for his starring role as “Corky” in the hit ABC-TV show “Life Goes On.” The trio formed a singing group for children and families, got a record deal on BMG, recorded four award winning CDs, and toured the country for 20 years promoting the message of inclusion, tolerance, and ability awareness.
They have performed in “all” 53 states including the states of exhaustion, confusion and delirium! When Chris retired, the DeMasi Brothers put their folk group back together and have been appearing at UU churches, folk clubs, and coffee houses all across the country. They can be heard on NPR radio and have released four wonderful CDs. Their music is embedded with their UU values and principles that they have shared with over 150 UU churches throughout the country.
