Communication Covenants: Building Community with Good Communication
A workshop for All Souls leaders, members, and friends
Much of our life in community is shaped for better or worse by our habits of communication. We will tap into our shared wisdom to identify what helps and hinders good communication. Then we will test several “rules of thumb” for good communication in small groups. At the end we will gather what we’ve learned and identify our growing edges as individuals and as a community.
Here’s a “rule of thumb” worth testing: Speak for yourself—use “I”, not “we”, “they’, “you” or “somebody”.
Rev. Ted Tollefson, M.Div., M.S. has been serving UU congregations in Minnesota and Wisconsin since 1980. He taught World Religions at United Theological Seminary for 20 years and now teaches Psychology at Metro State University in St. Paul, MN. Currently, he’s helping to plant a new UU congregation in Red Wing, MN. He lives with his wife Kristen at Mythos Center in Frontenac, Minnesota.
