Reconciliation

The first-ever Native American Day in South Dakota commemorated the 100th anniversary of the Wounded Knee massacre. How did this come about? What has changed in South Dakota? What about the “Year of Reconciliation?”  Bio: Rose and her husband Jay live in Vermillion, SD. They share five children and five grandchildren together. She has worked with cancer patients at Avera for the last 10 years and enjoys the interaction with patients. Born to the Ihanktonwan Nation she is a Woman’s Traditional Dancer and participates in Native Ceremonies.  Rose has attended many services at All Souls and we are looking forward to hearing of her journey.

– Carla Miller, Executive Director of SD Parent Connection will share about SD Parent Connection, which we are supporting with half of our non-designated plate contributions for the month of September and October.

South Dakota Parent Connection, founded in 1985, has been the state’s only federally recognized Parent Training and Information Center (PTI) and Family to Family Health Information Center (F2FHIC) serving families of children with special needs.  Its mission is to connect families caring for children/youth (ages birth to 26) with the full range of disabilities or special health care needs to information, training and resources in an environment of support, hope and respect.
