My Personal Journey: Applying a New Approach to Achieve Wellness (No, It’s Not a Step Program)

Worship Service Coordinator: Mike Huber; Musician: Joseph L’Amour

Dave Jansa will share his personal addiction story, his journey, and his current role as a Program Advisor & Peer Coach with Face It Together. Developed right here in Sioux Falls, Face It Together focuses on improving every aspect of individuals lives, not just the part that involves drinking.

One of the biggest issues we have with addiction is our inability to understand, recognize and treat it in its early stages. Similar to other chronic diseases, it’s much easier, and less costly, to deal with addiction early on. We need to understand and embrace the importance of early detection and treatment of addiction as we have with other chronic illnesses. If we don’t, we’re left treating addiction with archaic, ineffective methods.

Dave faced this problem alone, then helped develop coaching so others didn’t have to. Face it Together looks at facing the whole problem because, sober doesn’t always mean better. There’s a common belief that addiction recovery is always a one-size, 12-steps-fits-all process. By focusing on improving many areas of one’s life, rather than sobriety alone, Face It Together Coaches have shown they can help those impacted by addiction manage their disease more effectively over a lifetime. After 120 days of coaching, 97% of those with addiction show measurable steps toward success.
