President's Message

Transition. Change. We can count on it. All Souls has dealt with it many times over the years. Let’s embrace it and view it as an opportunity for self-assessment and growth. All Souls has not yet realized its full potential. We can grow; we can experience consistent, ongoing ministerial leadership; we can create a bustling, vibrant RE program; we can reach out to the Sioux Falls community with enthusiasm; we can work on encouraging more visitors to become members; and we can take a strong stance on social justice issues. As a forward-looking spiritual community, we can make this happen, but we must participate in this effort together, have a common vision. How can we weather the loss of our minister and remain focused on our mission? Be tolerant of one another, extend a helping hand to keep programs running smoothly, and embrace diversity of all kinds. Thanks to all members and friends who took the time to submit their thoughtful comments on the Congregational Transition Interview. Your comments may help guide church leaders as they prepare for a Strategic Planning session this fall and as we prepare to appoint a Ministerial Search Committee to identify our next minister.

Janelle Lenser, All Souls President of the Board

Changes to after-service hospitality

We, at All Souls, tend to be a mobile group. People find it hard to commit to a regular monthly schedule for hospitality.

So, we are going to take a short hiatus and streamline the workload.

We will have hot water for tea or instant decaf coffee, as well as water, and juice. To cut down on clean-up time, we will use paper cups.

If you want to be kind to the environment, bring your own cup. Of course, you are welcome to use All Souls’ dishware and silverware as long as you wash, dry, and put away whatever you have used.

With your patience and cooperation, no one will have to exit services early for kitchen duty and everyone will have the opportunity to participate in circle time on Sundays. Clean-up time will take less time and can easily be handled after circle discussion.
